Pure Value Play

I took advantage of this drop today by doubling-down on my investment within Proctor & Gamble (PG) at $51.76. They are trading just above their 52-week low, so I think this is a great entry point into a solid company.

In addition, I tried to make two other moves, but set my entry point too low. Those stocks were DryShips Inc (DRYS) and General Electric (GE). I missed getting into DRYS by 0.03, which was a bit frustrating because I would have had a nice little gain towards the end of the day. I guess we will see what the market will look like tomorrow after investors get a chance to digest the Senate version of the "Stimulus Plan" and the complete vagueness of Tim Geithner.

On a lighter note...has anyone else become completely immune or disgusted with the continued overuse of the term "Transparency?"

Closed Coal

I closed out my position in Peabody Energy Corp (BTU) yesterday at $30.44 for a 31% gain in just over two weeks. My thought process was to sell on a nice move upwards, which I believe was in part to the ongoing stimulus plan discussions and President Obama's speech. I'm still keeping an eye out for the final stimulus plan, which is coming, but what will it look like in the end?

I want to know more about these 4 million jobs created/saved that President Obama addressed in his speech. This will help provide a blueprint for future investments.

Investing Ideas

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 has been pushed through the House of Representatives and some version is now in the Senate. Whatever your political views are, there is going to be some form of "Stimulus Plan" pushed onto the American people. Why not be smart about it and use this as an investment opportunity for research and due diligence? I think this is a perfect opportunity to see where Congress is spending taxpayer money and where its to be deployed. Granted they don't spell it out in black and white, but one can compile a picture and capitalize through smart stock picks.
